Google Search Ads allows you to show your ads to users who are actively searching for the keywords that you’ve selected by participating in the “Ad Auction”. For example, if you own a small accounting firm, you “bid” to have your ad show up every time a user types in “Accountant in Auckland”.
As a result these “text ads” are an excellent opportunity for you to capture people who are at the research and purchasing stages of the digital sales funnel i.e. they are looking for an “accountant in Auckland”. Text ads are marked clearly with a small “Ad” tag next to the site URL.
NOTE: AVAILABLE IN NEW ZEALAND & AUSTRALIA ONLY
Click: When someone interacts with your ad, like on the blue headline of a text ad, Google Ads counts that as a click.
Impression: How often your ad is shown
CTR: the click-through rate (CTR), which tells you how many people who’ve seen your ad end up clicking on it. This metric can help you gauge how enticing your ad is and how closely it matches your keywords and other targeting settings.
Conversion: A conversion happens when someone clicks your ad and then takes an action that you’ve defined as valuable to your business, such as an online purchase or filled out your online form.
Keywords: Words or phrases describing your product or service that you choose to help determine when and where your ad can appear.
Negative Keywords: These are words or phrases that can be added that you don’t want to show for e.g. you only sell products, you don’t rent/lease them
AdGroup: AdGroups are how we organize your ads/keywords by a common theme.
CPC: Cost-per-click is how much you’ve paid for each click on your ads. This varies depending on various factors, including targeting, audience, keyword itself & industry etc.
Ad Extensions: A type of ad format that show extra informations about your business (e.g. phone number, location, additional supporting features, list of services, reviews etc)
Search Impression Share: is the percentage of impressions that your ads receive compared to the total number of impressions that your ads could get.
